I’m an English uni student on a mission to find the loves of my life. I’m trying to figure out what I love to do and document it here as I go. Hopefully there’ll be some people out there in the great wide world of the Internet that will share my passions, but if not I’ll at least have a nice record of what I’ve been up to.
Until I finished high school I was a complete bookworm. I read in class under the desk, during every car journey (no matter how short) and would easily get through 12 books during a 2 week holiday. I genuinely loved to read. Then life got busy, I learned to drive and started getting swamped with academic reading lists. I just never seemed to get around to reading for pleasure, which is a shame because there are so many books out there that I’m desperate to get stuck into.
So now I’ve decided to start. I’m calling an end to my 5 year reading drought and am making a resolution to read at least one non-academic book a week for the foreseeable future.
I’m starting my mission by rediscovering my original love of reading and am going to take it from there. Hopefully some other passions will emerge along the way.
And why bother blogging? I don’t want to just mindlessly work through my reading list, only conscious of the number of books I’ve managed to tick off so far. Firstly, I want a record of what I’m trying to do. And secondly, I want to think about what I’m reading. I plan to get through a pretty wide range of genres and (fingers crossed) gain a bit of knowledge as I go.
And if my loves turn out to be the same as other people’s interests, that would be a huge bonus. So if you have any thoughts on anything I post, please feel free to leave a comment!
