Hello lovely people,
I hadn’t really thought before about doing a haul post, but I just so happen to have bought lots of of lovely things over the last week or so. I couldn’t wait for individual reviews to share them all, so here they are! There’s a fair bit of beauty, a few new clothes and a couple of books, so a good mixture – and so much that I’ve decided to split it up. This post will cover my beauty stuff, then I’ll do another for everything else. Enjoy!
I’m going to kick off with the beauty stuff, just because there’s so flippin’ much of it! And there are a couple of bits missing from this photo. I definitely need to learn some self control in Boots…
First up are the new L’Oreal Skin Perfection Micellar Water and Cleansing Oil. These have only recently launched and I grabbed them on a ‘buy one get one free’ offer in Tesco last week (I can’t find them on the Tesco website, but the offer may well still be on if you pop into store). I believe they’re starting to be stocked in Superdrug as well.
I’ve been intrigued by micellar waters for a while after hearing so many rave reviews, but didn’t want to fork out for Bioderma when I wasn’t sure I’d use it and had heard people say that others were generally disappointing. This L’Oreal version was only £4.99 and a quick Google brought up good reviews so I decided to grab it along with the cleansing oil. I’ve only used the water so far and its early days, but so far I’m impressed and there’s even a chance I may have found a cheaper alternative to my beloved Clinique Take The Day Off eye makeup remover – I daren’t get my hopes up too soon though!
Next is another couple of skincare products on a great value offer: Good Things Stay Clear Purifying Cleanser (£4.99) and Miracle Mattifier Moisturiser (£8.99). I’ve heard good things (ha!) about this brand, which is supposed to be full of lovely ingredients, so when I saw it on a 2 for £6 offer (the RRP of the moisturiser alone is £7.99!) in Boots I couldn’t resist. My skin can get a bit oily and spotty, so I’m hoping that this combination will sort me out on dodgy days. If you fancy giving this brand a go, I’d recommend getting yourself down to Boots asap before the offer runs out.
The last bit of skincare is yet another offer from The Body Shop – they had all skincare, makeup and fragrance on 3 for 2 (another offer to check out soon!). I picked up the Vitamin E SPF 15 Moisture Lotion (£11) because I wanted a day cream with SPF and the Vitamin E range gets a lot of good reviews. I also grabbed the Seaweed Ionic Clay Face Mask (£12) to (hopefully) clear up my skin, on the recommendation of my friend and a lovely shimmery Colour Crush Eyeshadow (£7, but free on the offer) in shade 201 Melt My Heart. I recently used a friend’s Body Shop eyeshadow and found it surprisingly pigmented, so I have high hopes for this!
Continuing with the makeup, I’ve gone a touch mental with that too… I’ll work clockwise-ish.
I’ve heard marvellous things about MUA eyeshadow palettes, especially the Undressed palette (£4) that’s supposedly a dupe for the Urban Decay Naked Palette. I have the Naked Basics palette and love it, so I thought this would pretty much be a guaranteed success – looking forward to playing about with it.
Next is Revlon Colorstay Nail Enamel in Vintage Rose. I love the colour – it’s a really sophisticated muted pink that I really like for the not-quite-spring weather we’re having in England at the moment – but unfortunately I seem to have real issues with the formula as it chips on my nails almost straight away. I’m hoping it’s just the top coat I’m using, so fingers crossed for future success.
Also from MUA I have the Pro-Base Eye Primer (£2.50). I was planning to get the standard version that I’ve heard rave reviews of, but this was only one left and it was the same price, so I thought I’d give it a go. I always have to use primer on my oily eyelids and am currently getting through quite a lot of Urban Decay Primer Potion, so hopefully this will be a good (and cheap) alternative.
Another cheap buy was the Natural Collection Lash Curl Mascara (£1.99) in brown-black. I’m still on the hunt for a replacement for my beloved discontinued Rimmel Glam’Eyes Mascara and decided that, at this price, I have nothing to lose by trying this.
I picked up another Revlon Lip Butter (£7.99) in Juicy Papaya. It’s an orangey shade that should be nice for summer, but not quite as scary an orange as Tutti Frutti, and is one of the new shades. I already have a pinker Revlon Lip Butter and love it, so I’m sure this will be a success!
A slightly less interesting lip purchase was the Blistex MedPlus Balm (£2.59). I get horrible dry and flaky lips if I don’t use lipbalms almost constantly and I heard that this one was intensive but wearable. So far I love it – it’s tingly but not uncomfortable and is sorting out my lips.
Last but not least on the makeup front is a 3 for 2 buy in Superdrup of some cult blogging products – two Rimmel Scandaleyes Shadow Sticks (£4.49) in Bulletproof Beige and Bad Bronze (I know, I have an obsession with neutral eyeshadows), and an Apocalips Lip Lacquer in Celestial (£5.99). I’m super excited to use these, but don’t think there’s really anything to say about them that hasn’t been said a hundred times already!
Just to round up my beauty haul, there are a few things I don’t have individual pictures of:
- Batiste Dry Shampoo in Medium & Brunette (£3.99) – haven’t tried a coloured dry shampoo before, should be interesting
- MAC Brush Cleanser (£9.50) – my brushes are gross, this is supposed to be good, happy days
- Small spray bottle from Superdrug – want to dilute the brush cleanser with water and have it in a spray
- Bourjois Magic Nail Polish Remover (£4.99) – I hate removing nail polish and usually pick it off, so hopefully this will stop me doing this
- Ecotools Bamboo Concealer Brush (£5.49) – I needed a brush for my Soap & Glory Kick Ass Concealer and this seemed pretty good
That’s all the beauty – it took a lot longer than I thought! Congrats and thanks so much for reading if you made it this far, I’m impressed. A shorter part 2, with books and clothes, will be coming up in the next couple of days.
